About

MEET KAYLA

THE BEGINNING

Kayla Marie Anderson was born in Spokane, Washington with competition running through her veins for as long as she can remember. She grew up in a family that fed her passion for sports. Whether attending the local WHL Spokane Chiefs games or taking trips across the state to watch the Seattle Mariners, it was clear from day one, the path Kayla hoped to pursue.
EARLY YEARS
At West Valley High School, Kayla played softball and was the captain of her dance team. When she wasn’t busy with those activities, you would be sure to find her rooting on the Eagle’s football, basketball and baseball teams. Kayla was also honored as part of an esteemed young women’s leadership pageant (The Spokane Lilac Festival) serving as West Valley’s representative her senior year.

Traveling down the interstate just 75 miles for her next stop, Kayla attended Washington State University, where she was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, graduating with a degree in Broadcast/Journalism. While attending the university she continued pursuing her passion with sports, working within the Cougar Athletics Program for three years as well as getting her first television experience as an active member in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication, doing work for Cable 8 News.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Kayla’s professional journey has taken her all across the country, beginning with a television career in Bend, Oregon working as a Sports/News Reporter. Her first full time Sports Anchor job was in Montgomery, Alabama. From Alabama, she moved on to make stops in Washington, Montana, Arizona and Ohio. With every new location Kayla worked, she received an education in the various sports cultures around the country, further fueling her love of the game. Some of the events she has covered include: March Madness, The 2014 College Football Championship, The Memorial Tournament, The 2016 World Series, The Stanley Cup Playoffs and The NFL Playoffs.

BEYOND SPORTS

While sports is a big part of Kayla’s everyday life, she strives to make sure it doesn’t define her. Kayla met her husband Travis while working in Alabama, the two are proud parents of their big dogs, Shug & Champ. Kayla is a fitness fanatic, enjoying everything from spin, pilates and hot yoga, all the way to full on cross-training. She enjoys music and has a secret talent for singing. A fun fact about Kayla is that she has a goal of visiting every MLB stadium in the country, with 14 stadiums currently checked off the list!
